I've decided to start a new Valentine's Day tradition. It's no secret that I'm not a fan of Valentine's Day. If my husband is going to buy me flowers, I want it to be because he wants to and not because he has to, especially in the name of some commercialized holiday when prices are raised and it's anything but special. Plus it eliminates any chance of feeling mad at him for whatever expectations I had that didn't get met. Not caring about the holiday means not having expectations, which means we've celebrated 10 Valentine's Days together without any negative feelings! Haha! But that's just me.
Anyway... even though I'm anti making a big fuss about Valentine's Day for me and Nick, I still want holidays to be fun for my kids so I decided to start a new tradition. We've always gotten the girls a little gift, but I want to do more than that. This year we had a fun, festive dinner and I'm pretty sure we'll do the same meal every year because it's so simple to tie into the color scheme. I made crepes with chocolate mousse filling and vanilla filling that I colored pink. And with it we had strawberries and bananas, chocolate and strawberry sauce, and of course, chocolate or strawberry milk to drink. Then for dessert we had festive cupcakes. It was pretty much like eating candy for dinner! I definitely don't think the girls will complain about that being a tradition!
